Special Olympics Ontario is divided into 12 competitive regions. Regions are further grouped into 6 administrative districts for support and development purposes.

Every district is supported by Special Olympics Ontario District Developers. These vital staff are responsible for assisting communities in all aspects of growth and development. This includes the recruitment and training of new athletes, volunteers, school programs and sports clubs. Staff also assist in developing opportunities for competition, management of regional committees and coordination of strategic development across their districts. They also act as spokespeople and resources for Special Olympics Ontario in order to increase public awareness, funding and partnerships with other agencies and organizations.
